Note from the author
I wrote the Kaybree series from 2011 to 2015, before I began to seriously research introversion. And yet, as I contemplate the themes, the characters, and the conflicts of the series, I realize that Kaybree's crisis of identity mirrored my own. She had talents she didn't understand, and that caused others to misunderstand her. She struggled with moral dilemmas and indecision about how to use her talents. And she discovered more about herself than she ever would have imagined along the way. While this series was not intended to be such, could we consider these my first introvert author/introvert protagonist novels? Regardless, I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

Book 1: Kaybree versus the Angels
Kaybree has grown up hearing stories of the Angels, mythical beings who used to defend Nordgard from the creatures of the forest. After leaving mankind without guidance for centuries, they returned fifteen years ago, leaving a fiery swath of destruction.
When Kaybree is called to the outpost by the forest, home to her mother's mysterious Vormund Order, she stumbles into the latest Angel attack. Soon she learns that she has the unique power to fight them: the ability to transform into a radiant being of fire and lightning. As she begins to receive visions from Angelic messengers, she delves deeper into her mother's organization. She starts to wonder: why would Angels, holy messengers of God, attack people? Every answer she finds only sparks more questions. Because Vormund holds a deadly secret—one that could change Nordgard and the human race forever. |
Book 2: My Very Own Witch Hunter
Kaybree is a Witch, a being born once a century with the power to break the world—a power which she wants to use to cure disease, alleviate suffering, and build a better world. But the Angels, mankind's holy guardians, have the sacred calling to eliminate Witches before they can use their power for evil.
As the Angels continue their mission to destroy her, they begin striking at her classmates. As the attacks escalate and a Witch Hunt breaks out in the city, and she must balance her need to protect her friends with a strict set of rules to keep from harming innocents. But even with the best of intentions, can a Witch ever use her power for good? Or is she fated to become the monster that the scriptures prophesy? |
Book 3: Girl of Fire and Lightning
The Angel attacks continue, and when the next Angel disables Kaybree's powers, her mother is forced to unveil her inventions to protect the city from another wave of monsters.
As Kaybree searches for the source of the spell that disabled her, she also investigates the Vormund Order. She wants to believe that her mother will use the Witch's power for good, and wants to trust her heart and conscience to Galen. But are the Angels oppressors as he claims, or are they trying to prevent her mother's inventions from destroying the world? The battle for humanity begins, and Kaybree must venture deep into the Angels' forest to learn the truth behind the attacks. As she confronts her destiny as a Witch, she must also make a decision that will determine the future of all Nordgard. |
Book 4: Steel Fox
Betrayed by Galen and left in command of Vormund, Kaybree scrambles to fill her mother's shoes while defending against her former friends. With the original Steel Fox gone, many organizations vie for control of her. She struggles to know what her mother would have done, poring over Andreya's journal for clues to her ultimate plans.
Her research leads her into a dream world, where she journeys through the memories of an ancient Vision Bringer. She sees the wondrous world before the War of the Angels, filled with marvels of relic and machine. But she knows that in spite of its majesty, this world fell into war and ruin. She must discover the hidden truth behind its fall before her own world meets that same fate. |
Book 5: Twilight of the Angels
Galen and Allucian have taken Kantmarck, splitting Vormund in two and bringing more and more lands under their control. As Helmswood plans a strike to reclaim the kingdom, Kaybree finds that their only hope is to delve into her family's hidden past to unlock the full measure of her powers.
But the more she learns, the more horrified she becomes. As she discovers the true power of the Witch, she sees no way to use it without destroying all she wishes to protect. She also worries about her growing relationship with Mikael. Is their love strong enough to fight the evil within her—or will it corrupt him instead, turning him into a creature of darkness like Allucian? In this concluding volume of Kaybree the Angel Killer, all secrets of Angels and Witches are revealed, and Kaybree must face the truth of her destiny before humanity brings down its own destruction. |
